Well, we thought that July was hot, but August outdid itself in the temperature department. The thermometer was showing 95 degrees today, but despite the heat, 15 intrepid Four State QRP'ers had a grand meeting. As usual, several folks brought some projects and things for show and tell today. After a QRO lunch at Barney's, we headed up the hill to the Seneca city park for some outdoor QRP fun.

The pictures that follow are "clickable" to view a larger image file.

Cecil NØEHP (on the right) and his son Daniel enjoying lunch at Barney's.

Rowena and Rex KC5UVN getting set for lunch.

Larry NØBHU, Dale WDØGKC and Layne WDØDDU going over the schematic of Layne's station power supply that recently "went west".

Paul NØNBD (on the right) and son Richard drove down from Humboldt, Kansas for today's get-together. Welcome to Seneca guys!

Jay KØETC and Jim Newton looking at the innards of an Emtech NW20 transceiver.

JC, K5DMI brought his homebrew 20 meter receiver, a "work in progress". JC reports that it receives foreign broadcasters "loud and clear".

More neat home constructed goodies for show and tell. The big rig is Rex, KC5UVN's 20 meter SSB White Mountain transceiver with a built-in digital frequency display and internal battery pack. Upper left and and lower left are a pair of Rock Mites (20 and 40 meter versions) with a NorCal keyer in the middle. These three were built by Paul, NØNBD. ALL nice projects!

After lunch, the Four State gang adjourned to the Seneca city park were we put two stations on the air. In the foreground, Paul NØNBD is on 20 CW with the Emtech NW20. In the background, Layne WDØDDU is tuning 40 CW on an Elecraft K1. At the far end of the table is Paul's portable stack of MFJ transceivers. We were hoping to contact 4SQRP member Rick, WØIS from the Iowa high point, but did not hear him on either band.

Next month, instead of our normal meeting at Barney's, we will have the fall Ham-Out at Twin Bridges state park. Mark your calendar for September 20 and 21st.
