Lebanon, located on historic Route 66 about 40 miles east of Springfield, was the destination for many four state QRPer's on the first weekend of May. This year, Lebanon was the location for the ARRL's Midwest Division convention and was well attended by many league officials.

On Friday evening, several QRP'ers enjoyed the convention's fellowship by attending the banquet. There we enjoyed an excellent meal, followed by a talk by keynote speaker, Riley Hollingsworth. Mr. Hollingsworth, K4ZDH and FCC Special Counsel for Amateur Radio Enforcement, spoke about the FCC's amateur enforcement program and encouraged all hams to make the radio hobby something that we can be proud of.

On Saturday afternoon, the Four State QRP Group sponsored a QRP and Homebrew forum. Don Jackson, AE5K was our speaker and gave an outstanding presentation about QRP and homebrew construction.

Also, it must be mentioned that Don was presented with his 50 year membership pin today by ARRL president, Jim Haynie. Congratulations Don!

Many kit and homebuilt projects were used in the "show and tell" portion of the forum. Joe, WØMQY is showing us his Rock-Mite transceiver built into a Whitman's candy tin. The projects ranged from simple VE3DNL oscillators to a complex multi-mode DSP 2 meter transceiver.

Bob Heil K9EID came to the hamfest in style! Here is his 1956 Thunderbird convertible , complete with a vintage 1956 Collins KWM-1 mobile rig. This is the car that appeared on the cover of CQ magazine, May 2003 issue.

Another QRP'er is just about ready to hit the airwaves. Just minutes before this picture was taken, Hannah passed her Technician exam. Proud parents Jay, W5JAY and Kathy, WQ5T were there to cheer her on. Congratulations Hannah, way to go!!!
