Our second luncheon get-together was held on Saturday, May 18th at Barney's Kitchen in Seneca, Missouri. We had 12 in attendance, representing all four states.

We had lots of rigs and antennas at the table for show and tell. Sorry, we did not get photos of all the many different rigs.

Rowena and Rex Terry KC5UVN on the left with Gene Sailsbury KCØIKY on the right looking at schematic drawings.

Don and Carol Jackson, AE5K and W5CSJ came up from Yellville, Arkansas. Great to see you folks again!

Since we don't have any boring business meeting, we get right to the fun. It's great to see all the QRP projects that are being built and used by the gang.

Don Jackson, AE5K has been active with the QRSS (very slow speed CW) experiments on 30 meters and has copied many very low power signals. He and Carol, W5CSJ drove over 3 hours to attend today.

Jay Rupar, KØETC shows us that good things come in small packages!

This is Jay's tiny 30 meter transmitter with the QSL's to prove that QRP works great!

Joe Porter, WØMQY brought several projects that he has built, including a PSK31 interface unit. Check out the homebrew front panel. Joe used Microsoft Word to create the art work, then printed it on a laser printer. A sheet of plastic covers and protects the finished panel.

Joe Porter, WØMQY built this professional looking homebrew PSK31 interface unit.

Joe used Manhattan style construction to build his interface. Pretty cool!

Since several members have built Warbler PSK-31 transceivers, we may set up an area 80 meter PSK-31 net soon.

Gene, KCØIKY brought a couple of MFJ rigs. One was an antique model 40T transmitter, probably one of the first MFJ rigs ever built. He is looking for the matching VFO. Contact Gene if anyone out there has one available!

Gene KCØIKY with his antique MFJ-40T transmitter. Gene reports that it works fine. Anyone have a matching VFO?

Dennis Foster, KK5PY and Rex Terry, KC5UVN talking about the finer points of antenna coil construction.

Dennis, KK5PY brought several homebrew antenna coils that he built. He provided slotted grommet material and instructions to everyone for home construction of air-dux coils. Thanks Dennis!

After another great lunch by Barney, we went up the hill to the Seneca city park. We had a total of five separate portable stations on the air! Field day anyone?

Walter, AG5P and Joy, NQ5R Dufrain on the left with Rex Terry's portable rig.

Joe, WØMQY checking out 75 and 80 meters and testing a couple of homebrew tuners.

Walter and Joy Dufrain came all the way from Wright City, Missouri for the meeting, over 5 hours drive time. That demonstrates dedication and love of QRP! Sure was nice to meet you folks and hope that you can come back again real soon.

Dennis, KK5PY worked Oklahoma City on 40 meters SSB using one of his well constructed portable vertical antennas. You should see his FT-817 backpack setup sometime!

Our next meeting will be Saturday, June 15th at Barney's Kitchen in Seneca. See you there!
