Our May meeting arrived on a somewhat overcast morning with scattered showers in the four state area. Nevertheless, we had a good luncheon get-together at Barney's Kitchen in Seneca, Missouri.

Topics of discussion today were the upcoming ARRL Field Day in June and several projects that are being planned for the group. We will go to the Twin Bridges state park in June for Field Day and all QRP'ers are invited to attend and camp out for the weekend.

Jim Newton shows us his homebrew code practice setup.

Jim's CPO uses Manhattan style construction in a homebuilt box and runs on a single AA battery. Very nice!

Jay KØETC brought several modules for his homebrew transceiver project. Top module in the box is the VFO connected to the transmit mixer. Below that are the receive mixer and IF filter boards. The bottom module is the AF amplifier and speaker.

Here is a better view of the 11.5 MHz IF crystal filter and the spectrum analyzer plots. Jay used surplus varactors for variable filter bandwidth control.

Some of the Four State gang. Jim Newton is at the far end of the table, to the right is Tom N2UHC, then Joe WØMQY and Gene NØMQ on the right corner.

Jay KØETC is in the left foreground, then Ira KD5AUX, Rex KC5UVN and Jim Newton on the right

Carol W5CSJ and Don AE5K getting ready for lunch.

Not all of the attending Four State gang are shown in the photos this month. Hope to see everyone for Field Day in June!
