September 2004 - Fall Ham-Out
Saturday & Sunday, September 18 & 19, 2004

September's gathering was held at the Twin Bridges state park near Wyandotte, Oklahoma. This is our fall Ham-Out and also the same weekend as the QRP Afield operating activity.

Jim, WØEB working QRP Afield on 20 meters CW. A homebrew PAC-12 vertical antenna is out of the picture to the right.
Jim's front license plate.
WØEB is using a K2 with a computer control and logging program. Jay, KØETC on 20 meters CW with his SW-20+ and a vertical coaxial antenna.
Dave, WØCH working 15 meters CW with a K1 and 88 foot center fed antenna. Jim, WØEB in his official Elecraft shirt.
Here is a neat idea from Jay, KØETC. He mounted two power jacks on the gell cell battery for a quick and easy DC power pack. A couple of Lowfer band transmitters for the show & tell table. The top transmitter (2 boards) was build by Dave, WØCH and the bottom transmitter was built by Jay, KØETC. Both work in the 160 to 190 kHz part 15 band.
The loop receiving antenna was built by Jay, KØETC for use in the longwave part of the spectrum. High point of the day is dinner time! Here, chef Jim is doing the cooking chores. Those char-broiled burgers sure were tasty!
